World T20 2016: Seven Pakistani diplomats denied permission to watch Indo-Pak match at Eden Gardens

New Delhi: A fresh controversy surfaced ahead of the high-profile clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan as the hosts have denied seven Pak diplomats permission to visit Kolkata to witness the match.

The much-anticipated clash is scheduled to take place at Eden Gardens on March 19.

Terming the development as unfortunate, the official, who wished not to be named, said the diplomats intended to boost the morale of their cricket team.

"It is unfortunate that India, despite being the host of the World Cup, is refusing to fulfill its obligations and creating hurdles," the official was quoted as saying by IANS.

The official also told that appropriate steps will be taken and "Indian deputy high commissioner in Islamabad will also be summoned".
