DDCA row: After Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, now Sourav Ganguly defends under-fire Arun Jaitley

New Delhi: Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has come in defence of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who is under scanner over alleged corruption charges made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against him.

Speaking at a press conference, 'Dada' said that the politicians are elected through elections and one cannot challenge their powers.

Ganguly is not the first one to back Jaitley as earlier Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli had spoken in his favour.

Earlier, the BJP on Thursday categorically rejected all allegations of corruption made by AAP against Jaitley during his tenure as the chief of the Delhi District and Cricket Association (DDCA).

In a strong show of support for Jaitley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said at the BJP parliamentary party meet that he will come through "with flying colours" against charges of corruption levelled against him by the Opposition in a same way Advani did in the Hawala case.

Meanwhile, DDCA has also rejected the allegations of irregularities against Arun Jaitley and said that such charges were absolutely rubbish.

"Some allegations have been raised against the DDCA and it needs clarification as everyone is stating their point. First thing is allegation of irregularities on stadium construction. Stadium is made of Rs. 141 crores," DDCA working president Chetan Chauhan told the press conference.
