New Delhi: Team India started off their Australian campaign on a winning note as they crushed a Western Australia XI by 74 runs in a Twenty20 match at the WACA Ground in Perth.
India won the toss and put up a massive total of 192 runs after winning the toss, courtesy to powerful knocks by Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, with both scoring 74 runs each.
When India came on to the field to defend the total, uncapped left-arm pacer Barinder Sran impressed with his opening spell wherein he picked up two wickets. Later, spin trio Ravinchandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel also came good to restrict the hosts on 118.
Kohli and Dhawan's partnership of 149-run was the hightlight of the game.
India's limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni also provided a late impetus by scoring a quick-fire 22 off 14 balls with the help of two sixes.
Left-handed opening batsman Travis Birt was the only batsman from the Western Australia side, who shown some resistance by hitting an unbeaten 74 off 60 balls.
