Brotherhood of batting talents: Virat Kohli's 'a big fan of Rohit Sharma'

New Delhi: Indian vice-captain Virat Kohli on Sunday said that he is a big fan of his-team mat Rohit Sharma.

Speaking during the post-match ceremony at Sydney Cricket Ground, Kohli said that "I have said this many times that I am a big fan of Rohit. The time he has got, and the miles he can hit the ball..."

Today, both the batsmen continued their supreme forms, notching up their respective 50's to help India chase down Australia's 197 to complete a series whitewash.

Rohit, who opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan, was pivotal to the successful chase, as he first laid solid foundation before joining Kohli in the consolidation period in the middle overs.

India's Twenty20 International series win was made possible by the two talented batsmen. Kohli scored in the sequence of 90*, 59* and 50; while Raina's contribution with the bat was 31, 60, and 52 in the three match series.

And Kohli was the top-scorer with 199 runs, while Sharma finished third with 143, eight runs behind Australia's Shane Watson. But in the ODI series, Mumbai batsman was the top scorer with 441 runs, 60 more than Kohli's total.

During the ceremony, Kohli also revealed that before today's match they were indeed determined to finish the series 4-4, after losing the five match-match One-Day International series 1-4.

By virtue of 3-0 win in the T20Is, the tour ended with four wins and four defeats. But the Delhi batsman rued his chances to finish the job himself today.

"We decided before Sydney one-dayer that we want to finish the tour 4-all. Just because we played so well earlier but didn't get on the board. I was disappointed when I got out because I wanted to finish the game off. I challenge myself to finish them off when I chase." Kohli said.

The 27-year-old right handed batsman then hailed two returning senior pros in Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh for their character. In the last two overs, India needed 22 runs, which is still a huge ask in T20 times.

But the experienced pair completed the job with ease, in a confident manner.

"The way Yuvi and Raina, both of them coming back, finished it off, credit to their character," he added.
