Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed, Umar Akmal are the only experienced campaigners in the team and the onus will be on them to do most of the scoring. Along with Hafeez, Pakistan miss out on a veteran opener at the top and Manzoor's selection raised many eyebrows as he has not played for Pakistan in any format since August 2014.

Pakistan's pace battery is one of the best in the tournament comprising Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan and Mohammed Amir, who impressed everybody in the PSL.

In the spin department, Pakistan lack a specialist tweaker and have banked upon Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim.
