IPL 2022: Check out 5 worst retentions and buys of Mumbai Indians

Possibly, Mumbai Indians' worst buy this season. At over Rs 15 crore, Ishan has not made returns. In 10 matches so far, he has scored 270 runs at an average of strike rate of 116.88. His bad form is among the big reasons why MI have performed so poorly in IPL 2022. 

At Rs 1.60 crore, Murugan Ashwin has picked 7 wickets in 8 games that he has played in. And it looks even more disappointing performance when you know that Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have done well on tracks which has helped spin bowling. 

 

 

Pollard was Mumbai Indians' fourth retention who was given a sum of Rs 6 crore to stay back at MI. He accepted the offer and did not leave the franchise. However, his returns have been below par. With the ball, Pollard has chipped in with a couple of tight overs but that is not his primary skill. The big West Indian has failed in his role as a finisher throughout this season. 

Jaydev Unadkat was bought for Rs 1.5 lakh by Mumbai Indians as they tried to rope in a quality domestic left-arm pacer to strengthen the bowling attack but has he risen to the challenge? Many would say a BIG no.  

Basil Thampi may have been bought for Rs 30 lakh but he has not given any return whatsoever to his franchise. He has 5 wickets in as many games and has an economy rate of over 9, which is troublesome.
