IPL 2021 Player Auction: Stars who will fetch the biggest bid
The player auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place in Chennai on February 18. Some top players like Steve Smith, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell have already been released by their respective franchises on Player Retention Day. Kings XI Punjab have the biggest purse with Rs. 53.2 crores in their kitty while Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals have Rs 35.7 crore and Rs. 34.9 crore respectively. Even MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings have Rs 22.9 crores to spend in the mini-auction. We take a look at some of the players who may draw big bets from the franchises.
Aaron Finch
Australian ODI and T20 skipper Aaron Finch was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Finch is a captain, an opener, and a decent fielder. Like, Smith, Finch brings a lot of experience to the fore and could an asset if in form. (Source: Twitter)
Steve Smith
Former Australian captain Steve Smith was released by Rajasthan Royals this year. He is a captain, a top batsman, and a brilliant fielder. To add to all that, he also has the experience of playing cricket at the top level. It is being speculated that Chennai Super Kings could be interested in Smith as a replacement for Shane Watson – who has retired. (Source: Twitter)
S. Sreesanth
