It was not a great tour for Shubman Gill, who had a forgettable time in the middle. Just 8 runs in T20Is, 74 runs in 4 innings of Tests. Shubman's overseas records are depleting and he must work hard on that aspect. Tilak Varma was a slop show in T20Is with the bat, scoring just 29 runs from 2 matches. Shardul Thakur too had a very poor run in South Africa and needs a warning of sorts as his place is now in danger. India had the chance to write history by winning their first-ever Test series on South Africa soil. But that chance is gone now. They still managed to win at Cape Town and level the series.
