The Vande Bharat 2.0 was flagged off by PM Narendra Modi and the train will ply between Mumbai and Gandhinagar. This updated train now gets additional features and will cut travel time between the two states.

The revised version of the semi-high-speed train can reach a top speed of 160 kmph in 129 seconds from a complete stop. Due to rapid acceleration and deceleration, it may reach high speeds and will cut the travel time by 25% to 45%.

The train will resist floods of up to 650 mm in height, up from the previous 400 mm, and will have a total of four emergency lights in every coach to help passengers in case of an emergency exit during an electric failure.

The KAVACH (Train Collision Avoidance System) is used by the semi-high-speed train to increase operational safety. The Vande Bharat train also has four emergency windows on each coach. In addition, it now has four platform side cameras instead of just two, including rearward cameras outside the coach.

Along with the facility-loaded coaches, the Vande Bharat Express 2.0 also has bio-vacuum toilets in the Vande Bharat 2.0.
