Rainfall alert! IMD predicts rain activity in these states till August 30- In pics

IMD said rainfall activity over Northeast India is likely to continue till Friday, while some regions may witness extremely heavy falls during the next two days.

IMD said that the rainfall activity is likely to continue over Uttarakhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. “Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls very likely to continue over Uttarakhand till 29th August and isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh till 28th August," said the weather department.

The Met department also predicted fairly widespread to isolated heavy rainfall over southern India, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe in the next 2 days. “Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over ghat areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and Mahe on 29th and 30th August," it said.

A fresh spell of rain is expected in the national capital and adjoining areas in northwest India from August 29 as the monsoon trough is expected to shift towards the plains from the foothills of the Himalayas, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Delhi and other areas in northwest India are currently witnessing a partial "break monsoon" phase, weather experts said.

The India Meteorological Department on Thursday sounded increased rainfall alert for Kerala from August 27. "In view of the likely formation of a cyclonic circulation over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal on 27th August, increase in rainfall activity is expected over Kerala from 27th August 2021", an IMD release said here.

IMD has issued yellow alert for 10 districts on Friday. It has also issued heavy rainfall alert for few Kerala districts on Saturday and Sunday.

The Met department on Thursday issued a four-day rainfall warning for Telangana, staring from August 26 to August 29. The weather department warned that the southern state is likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in the state.

On August 27 and August 28, light to moderate rain is expected in Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Yadadri, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy and Jogulamba districts.
