The results of the Bhabanipur by-election in West Bengal will be announced on Sunday (October 3) as Mamata Banerjee battles to retain the CM post. BJP fielded Priyanka Tibrewal, a 41-year-old lawyer and vice-president of the saffron party's youth wing in West Bengal. Apart from south Kolkata's Bhabanipur, the by-elections were held for Jangipur and Samserganj seats in Murshidabad district.

Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that the procurement will start in Punjab and Haryana from October 3. "Due to delay in monsoon, the Central Government had postponed the start of procurement of paddy and millet to October 11 from October 1 this year... There are demands for an early start. The procurement will start tomorrow," Choubey told reporters.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team of Mumbai raided Cordelia cruise at Mumbai port and reportedly seized drugs on board. Jurgen Bailom, President and CEO of Cordelia Cruises, said that the Narcotics Department found drugs in some passengers' luggage. "These passengers were off-loaded by Cordelia immediately. The sailing of the cruise got delayed because of this," Bailom told reporters.

Dr Naveet Wig, Chairperson of the COVID Task Force for AIIMS Delhi told ANI, "Globally, the world is in need of vaccines and we have to ensure that this is a global war, and many countries are still not getting vaccinated.
