Total Filmy: IPS Ilma Afroz Sent On Leave After Tussle With Himachal Congress MLA

Ilma Afroz was born in Uttar Pradesh's Kundarki town located in the Moradabad district. She cleared the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in 2017 and joined the IPS in 2018. Her all-India rank was 217. She has been allocated to the Himachal Pradesh cadre.

Ilma Afroz lost her father to cancer when she was just 14 years old. She went on to study philosophy at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and later earned a scholarship to attend the University of Oxford in England.

Ilma Afroz landed into a conflict with MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary after the Baddi Police challened several vehicles belonging to the family members of the MLA. The vehicles were allegedly involved in the illegal mining case. 

The MLA and the SP has been locked in a conflict after Afroz did not attend the August 15 event presided by the MLA. Later, in a tit-for-tat move, MLA Chaudhary abstained from attending an SP office event. Later, MLA Chaudhary levelled grave allegations against SP Afroz and even went ahead with filing a privilege motion notice in the Assembly.

The third controversy between Afroz and Chaudhary is related to a recent firing incident in Baddi. According to reports, shots were fired at a bulletproof car in the district allegedly targeting scrap trader Ramkishan, who is said to be a close aide of Chaudhary. A police investigation later uncovered that Ramkishan had staged the attack himself after his application for an All India Gun License was denied. Due to Ramkishan's political connection, Afroz reportedly faced pressure to cover up the case.

Reacting to SP Afroz going on leave, MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary said that the SP's leave is not under his jurisdiction. Blowing up the issue of an officer taking leave for personal reasons is a low tactic. Ram Kumar Chaudhary stated that some channels and newspapers reported that the SP had fined trucks belonging to his family and that this was why the officer was sent on leave. CPS Ram Kumar Chaudhary clarified that neither he nor his family owns a crusher or any trucks.

MLA Chaudhary claimed that for the past two years, his crusher has been leased to the national highway firm SPG Infracon, which operates it for highway construction projects. His trucks are rented out to a contractor in Pajehra, and none of these vehicles have received any fines related to mining activities.
