Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami, celebrates Lord Rama's defeat of the demon king Ravana and Goddess Durga's victory over Mahishasura. This day marks the end of the nine-day Navratri festival represents the victory of good over evil.
Mysore Dussehra is famous for its unique celebrations and events. The tradition is 406 years old and each year, the people of Mysore traditionally celebrate the festival with great joy and enthusiasm.
The festival ends with a victory procession featuring decorated elephants, camels, horses, and floats from the royal palace to Bannimantapa grounds for a torchlight parade.
