The idol of Goddess Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari in a 140 year-old temple inVishakhapatnam (Vizag) has been decorated with gold jewellery and currency notes worth Rs 4.5 crores. The contributions have come from over 200 devotees, reports suggest.

The temple is maintained by a group of local businessmen who start collecting currency notes before Navratri commences.

The deity is decorated with these currency notes and returned to those who had contributed it for the purpose of Navratri decoration.
