IRCTC introduces Jyotirlinga Darshan train: Check fare, itinerary, other details

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), on Thursday (October 21), introduced a special Jyotirlinga Darshan Yatra train to allow passengers to visit several religious places in the country.

The train is expected to start its operations from the Prayagraj Sangam station, Uttar Pradesh, starting October 21. However, passengers will get an option to board the trains from several other locations such as Pratapgarh, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Kanpur, Etawah, Bhind, Gwalior, and Jhansi.

Passengers booking the Jyotirlinga Darshan Yatra will visit Dwarkadhish Mandir, Bhent Dwarka Mandir and Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Ashram. IRCTC will also take the tourists to the Statue of Unity in Baroda. 

 

They will also get a chance to visit Udaipur, Rajasthan. There, tourists will get a chance to see the City Palace, Saheliyon Ki Bari, as well as the Maharana Pratap Memorial.

For those uninitiated, the Jyotirlinga or Jyotirlingam is a religious representation of Lord Shiva. In total, there are 12 such Jyotirlinga temples across India. However, the newly launched train will take passengers to only four such destinations: Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Somnath, and Nageshwar Jyotirlinga.

The other eight Jyotirlinga in India are Mallikarjuna, Andhra Pradesh; Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu; Bhimashankar, Maharashtra; Vishwanath, Varanasi;  Kedarnath, Uttarakhand; Ghrishneshwar, Aurangabad; Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra; and Vaidyanath, Jharkhand.
