Mumbai: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Shah Rukh Khan share a great bond. The Bollywood superstar, who addresses the politician as Didi (sister), often visits her when he is in Kolkata, the City of Joy. Kolkata is almost like Shah Rukh’s second home.

The actor was reportedly in the city to inaugurate the Kolkata International Film Festival. He was dropped at the airport by none other than Banerjee, who has always been extremely supportive of his work and services. An interesting video has surfaced online and we can see Shah Rukh in the back seat in the CM’s Santro.

It is indeed surprising to see SRK, who is blessed with all the luxuries in the world, on board a small car.

Onlookers at the airport were too inquisitive to know after how long SRK rode in such a small car. He remained tight-lipped and chose not to respond to the questions.

However, the special relationship between him and Banerjee was clearly visible. As a protective elder sister, Mamata took care of Shah Rukh as he got off the car and the latter touched her feet to seek her blessings.

On Raksha Bandhan this year, SRK revealed, “Every year I wait for an important wish. Didi's Rakhi wishes on Raksha Bandhan day (sic).”

The Badshah of Bollywood shares a special relationship with Bengal. Interestingly, he is the co-owner of Indian Premier League franchise – Kolkata Knight Riders and is also the brand ambassador of Bengal Tourism.

For the uninitiated, Shah Rukh has essayed the role of a Bengali man in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film based on Sarat Chadra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas in 2002.
