New Delhi: An actor is not always defined its stardom or fandom. Amidst all the glamour and glitter, cinema lovers most of the time tend to ignore some of the best performers in movies because of their limited screen-time. One such actor who deserves his due is Raghubir Yadav. You will be amazed to know that not one or two but more than five of his flicks have been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars over the time.
In a career spanning over three decades, Yadav has been a part of six films that were sent for the Oscars, including Deepa Mehta's Indo-Canadian film Water, Kalpana Lajmi- directed Rudaali and Shekar Kapur's Bandit Queen.
Two of his films, Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay and Aamir Khan-starrer Lagaan, made it to the final Oscars nominations. "I have never thought about or calculated these things as my entire focus is on giving my best as an actor. I don't pay attention on a film going for Oscars, I feel if the film is good then it will get the love and recognition it deserves," Raghubir said.
Recently-released Newton has become his latest film of the 60-year-old star to achieve the same.
The movie revolves around a young government clerk who is sent on election duty to a Maoist-controlled town and how the ideological struggle puts him in an awkward situation.
Directed by Amit Masurkar, Newton was released on Friday.
