Aishwarya Rai Bachchan hoists the tricolor at IFFM with daughter Aaradhya

New Delhi: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become the first female actor ever to hoist the Indian flag at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2017 annual ceremony, which is part of a special segment.

According to a Pinkvilla report, Mitu Bhowmick-Lange (Director of IFFM) had stated, "IFFM is proud to welcome one of India’s most loved and iconic actors – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – to the festival and look forward to celebrating Indian cinema in Australia."

Aishwarya also walked the red carpet as a special guest at the star-studded awards night that was held on August 11 at Melbourne’s Recital Centre.

According to The Indian Express, Aishwarya thanked the IFFM director by saying, “Thank you so much Melbourne, thank you everyone for giving us such a moment of pride and happiness with so much love and warmth. Celebrating our 70th Independence Day will forever be such a beautiful memory for me and my dearest Aaradhya.”
