Washington: Former Texas governor Rick Perry dropped out of the US presidential race Friday, becoming the first casualty in a crowded battle for the Republican Party nomination in 2016.
"Today I am suspending my campaign for the president of the United States," Perry told a crowd in St. Louis, Missouri.
"I step aside knowing our party is in good hands."
