Mumbai: At a time when the Latur district in Marathwada region of Maharashtra is reeling under a severe drought and Indian Premier League matches are being shifted out of the state to save water, it has emerged that thousands of litres of 'precious' water was wasted to prepare for the visit of state minister Eknath Khadse.
As per a report, a temporary helipad was constructed for Khadse's visit to Latur.
ANI reported that thousands of litres of water was wasted in the preparation of the helipad which Khadse's helicopter needed to land on.
While the visit to review the situation in the drought-hit district is welcome, wasting thousands of litres of water just to prepare a temporary helipad is shameful.
The minister, being a responsible public representative, could have instead used other means to reach the drought-affected area.
