Angleton: It all started three-weeks ago when 12-year-old Katelyn Thornley from Texas began to sneeze and she hasn't stopped since then. For most people, sneezing can be a welcome relief but for her, this has become a nightmare and has left doctors bewildered.

In an interview with a news channel, Thornley, who sneezes up to 12,000 times a day (20 times per minute), said she is constantly in pain and weak, and can barely eat.

The only relief the seventh grade student, gets is when she falls asleep at the end of each tiring day.

"Sometimes I wish I could leave my body for a little while so I could watch myself sleep and be at peace because even in my dreams, I sneeze."

The mysterious condition in Katelyn occurred after a clarinet lesson, but her parents assumed that it was just an allergy that would go away.

Typical conditions that cause regular sneezing, such as viruses, colds and allergies, have been ruled out. Doctors have suggested that stress may be the main cause.
