Not scared, says DCW chief Swati Maliwal after ACB raids; Kejriwal targets PM Modi

New Delhi:  Delhi Commission for Women's chief Swati Maliwal has said that she will be not "be scared or silenced" after the Anti-Corruption Bureau raided her office on Thursday to investigate an allegation of "nepotism and favouritism."

The ACB raided Maliwal's office following a complaint by her predecessor Barkha Shukla, who had alleged that the present DCW chief has appointed many functionaries or supporters of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party in the commission.

Maliwal, 31, who was hand-picked by Kejriwal to head the commission last year, has denied the allegations.

Maliwal was quoted by NDTV as saying that out of 42 people she has appointed, only two are connected to AAP.

Through a series of tweets, DCW chief alleged that she is being targeted for doing her job.

"DCW will continue working for women. ACB is free to interrogate, question and arrest. Happy Rakshabandhan to all," she said in one of her tweets.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too atacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ACB raids on the DCW office.

"Modiji has not spared even someone who has done such good work," Kejriwal tweeted this morning.

 

 

Ironically, Kejriwal is locked in an intense power struggle with the BJP-led Centre for control of the capital's administration.

The ACB is controlled by the Lieutenant Governor, the Centre's representative in Delhi.The ACB team reached the commission's office at 10.30 on Thursday morning and questioned senior staff members.

Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP has demanded Maliwal's resignation.
