#OddEvenFormula: Do you agree with Arvind Kejriwal's plan to beat air pollution? Have your say

The Arvind Kejriwal-led government's move will apply to a large bulk of the some 90 lakh vehicles registered in Delhi.

New Delhi: In a bid to curb air pollution, the Delhi government on Friday announced that private vehicles bearing odd and even registration numbers will be allowed to ply only on alternate days starting January 01, 2016.

The moves comes a day after the Delhi High Court likened the national capital to a gas chamber and sought immediate action from the central and Delhi governments.

The odd/even number scheme, similar to the one in place in Chinese capital Beijing and Singapore, allows vehicles with number plates ending with an odd number to be driven one day while those ending with an even number can be plied the next day, meaning that a motorist will be able ply his vehicle only for 15 days in a month.

The sweeping move will apply to a large bulk of the some 90 lakh vehicles registered in Delhi, where about 1,500 new vehicles are added every day.
