New Delhi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat has been surrounded by controversies ever since the movie was announced.
Members of the Rajput Karni Sena have been protesting against the film, demanding a complete ban.
However, after much debate and discussion, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave a release date to the film.
The makers had unveiled Ghoomar, a song that showcases the traditional Rajputana dance form, in October last year. Featuring Deepika Padukone, the song garnered millions of views on YouTube and proved to be a music lover’s delight.
Real-life Royals were offended by the song as they said that Rajput women do not dance and the song Ghoomar showed Deepika (who essays Rani Padmavati in the film) performing the art form.
Even the Central Board of Film Certification had suggested modifications to the song so as to make the depiction befitting the character that is being portrayed.
It looks like Sanjay Leela Bhansali is avoiding any more controversies as the video of the Ghoomar song has been edited in which, Deepika's midriff has been covered up with a red layer.
Here's the edited Ghoomar, sans Deepika Padukone's 'objectionable' midriff:
Earlier, Bhansali had said in a statement: Padmaavat is a dream come true for me. I have always been fascinated by the stories of honour, valour and vigour of our great Rajput warriors that have been captured so beautifully in our literature and this movie is my homage to those glorious stories.
Padmaavat will hit the theaters on January 25, 2018. It was earlier to clash with Padman but now the Akshay Kumar starrer's release has been postponed to February 9, 2018.
