Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said that his party will not ally with the Bhartiya Janata Party in the upcoming local body election in Mumbai.

He was quoted as saying by ANI, "They (BJP) have many gundas in their party but we don't have gundas, we have mawlas (sainik). They don't have capacity to fight with our sainiks, that's why they have hired gundas. I am not worried about the BMC elections, we will win all the elections I am sure."

"In 50 yrs of Sena, 25 years were wasted because of alliance. We're not greedy for power. In future, Shiv Sena will not knock on any door for alliance," Thackeray added.

He made these comments at a party workers' rally in suburban Goregaon.

Elections are due in Mumbai city on February 21.

Results are set to be announced on February 23.
