CHATTARPUR: Mid-day meal at government schools has faced criticism several times in the past for the quality of food that is served there. From drinking water to the food, instances of substandard food being served has often been brought to light.
This time, a school in Surajpura in Chhatarpur ras raised eyebrows after it was found that children here drink canal water, eat salt and chapati in mid-day meal. The students also do not have a class to sit and study in open.

Taking cognizance of the issue, authorities in Chhatarpur visited the school.
"I sent an inquiry team there. They found irregularities in mid-day meal. We will take actions. But there is no problem of water. Children drink water from tube well sanctioned in the school premises," Chhatarpur DM Ramesh Bhandari said.
Minister of Women and Child Development Archana Chitnis said that those at fault have been removed. "I spoke to Chhatarpur collector. People responsible for this irregularity have been removed. A team has been formed to keep vigilance in all districts," she said.
