Akhilesh Yadav tells India TV that he has not accepted uncle Shivpal Yadav's resignation. “I have told Neta ji that if outsiders come between us, he will be thrown out,” adds the UP CM. He adds that he "felt bad" after being removed as Samajwadi Party state president and demanded that he be given a say in ticket distribution for the 2017 Assembly Election. The Chief Minister rubbishes reports that he is behind the feud in the family saying, "It's a fight for the chair. If a good person asks for the CM's post, I am ready to give it up."

Union Minister and BJP MP Sanjeev Balyan alleges that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is trying to hide his government`s failures with this `family drama`. "There is a family drama going on in the state. The people of Uttar Pradesh are well aware of it and the government has been totally paralysed in this drama. Everyone is aware of the fact that Samajwadi Party will no longer form a government here (in Uttar Pradesh)," Balyan tells news agency ANI.

CNN-News18 quotes sources as saying that Shivpal wants Mulayam to remove Akhilesh and Ram Gopal as he is not interested in mere holding onto portfolios. However, Akhilesh Yadav wants to settle leadership issue once and for all within the Samajwadi Party and may agree to return the portfolios.

Mulayam Singh Yadav will today chair a parliamentary board meeting of the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow to put an end to the fight between his son Akhilesh Yadav and brother Shivpal.

Hundreds of Shivpal Singh's supporters raise anti-Akhilesh Yadav slogans demanding that all departments be restored to their leader. The protesting supporters say Shivpal should be retained as the state president and that he was humiliated by the Chief Minister. They demand that Akhilesh should touch Shivpal's feet as a nephew and say sorry. Many leaders could be seen shedding tears over the whole feud. Some are threatening to immolate themselves if their demands were not met.

Shivpal is flanked by sacked Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati and son Aditya Yadav, who has also resigned as Pradesh Cooperative Federation chairman in support of his father. 
 

Shivpal adds that for him an indication of Mulayam Singh Yadav was an order and he would go by the party chief`s decision in any situation. "Hum har paristhithi main neta ji ke saath hain aur rahenge, unka ishaara hamare liye aadesh hai."
 

Addressing a gathering of supporters camping outside his official residence, Yadav says: "Hum sab neta ji ke saath hain (We all are with neta ji)." He did not mention the name of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
