KOLKATA: On 121st birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a Trinamool leader said that government should stop misleading people on facts about the freedom fighter.
Stating that there's no proof Netaji's death in a plane crash, TMC leader Sukhendu Sekhar, “No government till now has been able to prove Netaji’s aircraft crashed or he died there. From last 73 years, governments have been mislead people. Government should stop giving wrong facts.”
Bose is believed to have died in a plane crash. However, due to mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, the Centre has set up a number of committees to investigate the case.
Modi government is has been releasing classified files related to Subhas Chandra Bose and more are expected to declassified soon.
Netaji's daughter Anita Bose Pfaff also believes that her father died in the air crash in Formosa (now Taiwan) on August 18, 1945, en route to Japan.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also maintained that the freedom fighter died in air crash. She claimed that there's a 'Russian angle' in his disappearance needs to be probed.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and other political leaders paid tribute on Netaji Jayanti.
