Jharkhand assembly election: 62.95% voter turnout recorded, voting ends

45.14 per cent voter turnout recorded till 1 pm, in the third phase of polling in Jharkhand assembly elections.

The highest polling has been recorded in Khijari seat at 37.65 per cent and lowest at Ranchi with 19.35 per cent till now. The voting commenced at 7 am amid tight security arrangements.
 

Jharkhand Governor Draupdi Murmu caste her vote at ATI Ranchi, AJSU president Sudesh Mahto cast his vote along with his wife at Silli. Former Union minister Jayant Sinha cast his vote in Hazaribagh.
 

Constituency-wise voter turnout recorded in the third phase of voting:

Koderma 27.30%, Barakatha 28.00%, Barhi 34.00%, Barkagaon 29.13%, Ramgarh 29.50%, Mandu 32.00%, Hazaribagh 26.00%, Simaria 32.33%, Rajdhanwar 29.09%, Gomiya 33.04%, Bermo 29.19%, and Ichagarh 33.44%.
 

25.85 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 11 am in the third phase of Jharkhand assembly election.

A woman voter who went to cast her vote in booth number 61 of Ranchi assembly constituency, alleged that her vote was already cast when she reached the polling booth. She had two voter identity cards. 

She further claimed that even though she had requested the Election Commission officials to cancel her one voter ID card, no action was taken on it.

Koderma 10.2 0%, Barkhata 15.90%, Barhi 13.09%, Barkagaon 13.70%, Ramgarh 17.03%, Mandu 14.20%, Hazaribagh 10.27%, Simaria 13.77%, Rajdhanwar 7.57%, Gomiya 13.02%, Bermo 12.75%, Ichagarh 14.11%, Silli 16.35%, Ranchi 10.64%, Hatia 11.40%, Kanke 13.60% and Khijri 16.25%.
 

13.05 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 9 am in the third phase of Jharkhand assembly election for 17 constituencies.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, PM Modi urges everyone in 17 assembly seats to vote large numbers.

The third phase of Jharkhand polls will take place today.

Urging all those whose seats go to the polls today to vote in large numbers. I particularly urge my young friends to vote.

The seats where elections arebeing held in the third phase include Koderma, Barkatha, Barhi, Mandu, Hazaribagh, Simaria (SC), Barkagaon, Ramgarh, Dhanwar, Gomia, Berma, Ichagarh, Silli, Khijri (ST), Ranchi, Hatia and Kanke (SC).

The election in the third phase is considered to be crucial with as many as 31 candidates trying their luck in Ichagarh Assembly seat of Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Ranchi seat and Kanke assembly seat, reserved for Scheduled Castes, has the lowest number of candidates with 12 each fighting the election.

Among these seats, voting will be held on five seats namely Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke, Ramgarh and Barkatha from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. while in the remaining 12 seats, voters will be able to vote between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The third phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections will begin from 7 am on Thursday (December 12) for 17 constituencies, taking the five-phased electoral process in the state midway.

Seventeen seats are spread across Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Giridih, Bokaro, Koderma and Saraikela. People will exercise their franchise for 17 seats in three districts out of five districts of North Chotanagpur, South Chotanagpur and eight districts of Kolhan.
