VHP reacts to Supreme Court's order in Nupur Sharma case

Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) working president Alok Kumar said, "Several FIRs have been lodged against her (Nupur Sharma) across the country. She will have to travel in connection with all these cases, which is unnecessary. There is a threat to her safety and security as well." 

"When M F Hussain made indecent cartoons, all of the cases lodged against him were clubbed. She should also have got such a relief. I am disappointed that she did not get it," he said.

The police in Rajasthan`s Bundi district on Friday arrested two clerics accused of making inflammatory statements against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. (IANS)

After the FIR was registered against Nupur Sharma, the Delhi Police sent a notice to join the investigation under section 41A. Nupur Sharma had already joined the investigation and Delhi Police had recorded her statement on 18th June (ANI)

CPI MP Binoy Viswam tweeted, "Red carpet for Nupur Sarma, prison cells for Teesta and Sreekumar! Comments from Supreme Court should alert Modi Govt. Irresponsiblity, driven by bigotry shouldn't be hall mark of any spokesperson. Such elements caused Udaipur incident.They should apologise to People & Nation."

TMC attacks Amit Shah over SC's rebuke of Nupur Sharma

"SC notes @NupurSharmaBJP 'single-handedly responsible' for setting the 'country on fire'; leading to brutal Udaipur murder. 'Nobody dares to touch you (Sharma). That shows your clout'," the TMC tweeted, quoting the apex court's comments. 

"Shame on the Home Minister @AmitShah & @DelhiPolice for sheltering her," the party added.

Supreme Court slams Nupur Sharma's remarks

"These remarks are very disturbing and smack of arrogance. What is her business to make such remarks? These remarks have led to unfortunate incidents in the country...These people are not religious. They do not have respect for other religions. These remarks were made for cheap publicity or political agenda or some other nefarious activities", the Supreme Court said. 

Supreme Court comes down heavily on Nupur Sharma over her Prophet remarks

"She actually has a loose tongue and has made all kinds of irresponsible statements on TV and set the entire country on fire. Yet, she claims to be a lawyer of 10 years standing... She should have immediately apologised for her comments to the whole country," the Supreme court said. (PTI)

Congress hits out at BJP

Senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury said, "It is wonderful that the Supreme Court has taken the cognizance of Nupur Sharma today. But the entire BJP should apologize to the nation for the kind of divisive policy and politics they do. The party is spreading so much hates around."

"Do not make women `Bali ka Bakra` (scapegoat). The BJP should apologize to the country because they have fanned hatred and set the country on fire. The BJP divided the country and spread hate. What Nupur Sharma did that is wrong but make her the `Bali ka Bakra` is also wrong. BJP has to be held accountable. They are responsible for divisive politics," she added. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi on Supreme Court's rebuke of Nupur Sharma over Prophet remarks:

"It is the Prime Minister, it is the Home Minister, it is the BJP and the RSS that has created this environment. ..This environment of anger and this environment of hatred," he said and termed it as an "anti-national act," said Congress MP. (PTI)
