West Bengal election: Polling for seventh phase ends with 75.06% voter turnout

Repolling at Sitalkuchi of Coochbehar district in West Bengal, where four TMC workers were killed in CISF firing, will be held on April 29 from 7am to 6:30pm.

Peaceful polling held in 11,376 polling Stations across 34 constituencies with 75.06% voter turnout recorded till 5pm. During the ongoing polls till this phase, seizure of Rs. 332.94 Crores reported: Election Commission of India.

"EC listens only to PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah", says TMC's Nusrat Jahan

"Wherever I have been campaigning, I've seen peoples' support for only one face - Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's... Why was the Election Commission sleeping all this while?" the TMC MP questioned. She further said, "When Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided not to hold public meetings, the EC called off all public meetings. It listens to the PM and Home Minister more than anyone else," she added. 

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda urged the people of West Bengal on Monday to use their vote in the seventh phase of the assembly elections for good governance, prosperity and development of the state.

The deceased has been identified as Anurag Sau, a student of BA first year. "Anurag was injured when he heard the sound of bombing. He was taken to Bhatapara State General Hospital but the doctor on duty informed that he had died earlier," the police said. Further investigation is underway. 

One dead in explosion in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas

An 18-year-old student died in an explosion in the Guptarbagan area of West Bengal`s North 24 Parganas district on Sunday night, the police said. According to the police, the incident took place near Motibhaban School in the Guptarbagan area of Ward 17 of Bhatpara Municipality under Jagaddal Police Station. (ANI)
