Former PM Manmohan Singh's condition stable, says AIIMS officials

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi for evaluation of fever is stable, said hospital officials on Wednesday (October 13, 2021). "The eighty-nine year Congress leader was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi for evaluation of fever; his condition is stable," AIIMS officials said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PM GatiShakti - National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today. He said, "We are laying a foundation for the next 25 years. This national master plan will give 'gatishakti' to development plans of the 21st century & will help in the timely completion of these plans." 

A major fire broke out in a residential society in Mumbai's Kurla. Around 20 motorcycles parked in the society were engulfed in the fire that was later doused by the fire department's personnel.

The Congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi met President Ram Nath Kovind today over the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case which led to the death of eight people. 

As per ANI, Congress earlier on October 10, wrote to the Rashtrapati Bhavan seeking an appointment with the President for a seven-member party delegation to meet him. The delegation will consist of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AK Antony, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury besides Rahul Gandhi who will lead the delegation.

As states highlight the coal crisis, the Centre has denied there is any such shortage. The government is also ramping up its per day coal production from 1.94 million to 2 million tonnes within a week, ANI reported.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday announced ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to the next kin of the deceased on death due to COVID-19 in the state and also directed the District Magistrates to provide the compensation amount to the victim`s families within 30 days of the application.

Addressing a programme organized on the International Disaster Risk Reduction Day at the Chief Minister`s residence today, the minister said that financial assistance will be provided from the `State Disaster Response Fund`.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection of the construction site of the WHO Building at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, IP Estate. As per an official release, the Minister found minor violations of the guidelines during the inspection.

"We observed that most of the regulations and the 14-point anti-dust guidelines are being followed, there is a tin shed with an anti-smog gun as well. But we have found some loose sand on the site that is treated with just sprinkling water all over it whereas it should`ve been covered with a net," Rai said.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday extended the COVID-19 curfew till October 31, but limited it to only five hours from 12 midnight.

Accordingly, the curfew will now be in force from 12 midnight to 5 AM only. So far the curfew hours were 11 PM to 6 AM. The government also eased restrictions on public gatherings, including marriages, permitting a maximum of 250 persons. Previously only 100 persons were permitted in such gatherings.

Tamil Nadu is to become the first in the country to administer Covid-19 vaccines to those aged 2-18 years, said State Health Minister M Subramaniam on Wednesday. The Centre has made a formal announcement on the vaccine and sent the proposal for an expert opinion, and once Tamil Nadu gets the nod, the State would be the first to administer the vaccine, Subramaniam told reporters.

Kerala recorded 11,079 fresh COVID-19 cases and 123 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health bulletin issued by the Health Department on Wednesday.
