J&K reports highest single-day tally with 4716 cases, 52 deaths

Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee took oath as the West Bengal Chief Minister for the third time at Raj Bhavan today (May 5, 2021). In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only a few invitees were present at the programme. 

In other news, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda will be visiting the families of the victims of post-poll violence in West Bengal. State chief Dilip Ghosh will also hold a sit-in protest at Hastings Office in Kolkata over the alleged killings of BJP workers during the violence that occurred in the wake of the West Bengal Assembly election results. 

In view of the prevailing COVID-19 crisis, the meetings of the Union Cabinet and Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) will be held today.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, "In view of the prevailing Covid situation, Govt. has decided to impose complete lockdown in East Khasi Hills district from 8 PM of May 5 till 5 AM of May 10, 2021. Weekend lockdown will also be imposed in all districts in the State. (ANI)

Sikkim imposes night curfew from 5 pm to 9 am. Inter-District movement of persons and all vehicles are prohibited, excluding army, security personnel & vehicles carrying essentials.
