New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (March 12) flag off 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' to mark 75 years of the nation’s Independence. The prime minister will also flag off Padyatra from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on the occasion.
The Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is going to be a series of events that will be organised by the Government to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence. It will be celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari. This year to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s freedom, the central and state governments are commencing the celebrations 75 weeks prior to Independence day (August 15).
"I bow to the feet of all the great personalities who participated in India's freedom struggle and have led the country," said PM Modi. He lists five pillars, along with the fight for freedom, that will inspire the dreams and duties of independent India. These are Ideas, Achievements, Actions and Resolve.
In other developments, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari offers prayers at a temple in Nandigram before filling his nomination as the BJP candidate from the constituency for West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021.
The BJP leader also met locals in Nandigram. "My relationship with them is very old. Mamata Banerjee remembers them every 5 years when polls come. They will defeat her. I am also filing my nomination, I am a voter of Nandigram," says Suvendu Adhikari.
