West Bengal: The board has re-examined the health condition of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and are discharging her now. They have opened the plaster cast and a fresh plaster has been applied.

"We wanted to keep her under observation for 48 hours. But with repeated requests, we are discharging her," said an official.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off a symbolic Dandi March in Ahemdabad on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. The march will see 81 people walk the route that was taken by Mahatma Gandhi and 80 others in 1930 from Ahmedabad to Dandi. The march is suppose to end on April 6.

"Whether we Indians have lived in the country or abroad, we have proved ourselves with our hard work. We are proud of our Constitution. We are proud of our democratic traditions. India, the mother of democracy, is still moving ahead by strengthening it, says the Prime Minister. "Even today, the achievements of India are not only our own, but are going to show light to the whole world, to give hope to entire humanity. Our development, filled with self-sufficiency, is going to speed up development across the world," said PM Modi.

"The country has been making vigorous efforts for the last six years to save the glory of India's history. Efforts are being made in every state and region... The country completed the revival of the site associated with the Dandi Yatra two years ago. I myself had the opportunity to visit Dandi on this occasion," says PM Narendra Modi at Ahemdabad.

"I came to ask Didi that which daughter needs to be voted? Who thrashed an 80-yr-old woman? Who murdered BJP workers? Who doesn't allow Durga idol immersion & Saraswati Puja? Who does Chandi Path when she comes to Nandigram & says Khela Hobe?" Union Minister Smriti Irani in Haldia, West Bengal.

"At that time, salt was a symbol of India's self-reliance. Along with the values of India, the British also hurt this self-reliance. People of India had to depend on salt coming from England. Gandhiji understood this chronic pain of the country, caught the pulse of the people. And on seeing this movement, became the movement of every Indian, became the resolution of every Indian," says PM Modi.

"I bow to the feet of all the great personalities who participated in India's freedom struggle and have led the country," said PM Modi. He lists five pillars, along with the fight for freedom, that will inspire the dreams and duties of independent India. These are Ideas, Achievements, Actions and Resolve.

At least 14 people were injured after a fire erupted at a manufacturing factory of medical equipment in Sahibabad Industrial Area Site 4 on Thursday night. Fire engines reached the spot to douse the fire while several ambulances reached to shift the injured to the hospital. Rescue operations are still underway. Ghaziabad’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kalanidhi Naithani said, "A total of 14 people have been injured in the fire incident. They have been shifted to the hospital. The reason behind fire has not been ascertained yet."

"The Padyatra to be flagged off (today) by Prime Minister will cover a journey of 241 miles from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari and will end on 5th April lasting for 25 days. I will lead the first lap of 75 km," said Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Culture Minister.
