Maharashtra: No casualties have been reported till now in the state. But strong winds have destructed many tin houses and uprooted several trees.

Mumbai: No landings or take-offs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport till 7 PM today.
 

Pune: Over 20 trees were uprooted near Pimpri-Chinchwad due to strong winds and rainfall. The uprooted trees have blocked many roads and damaged several cars parked on the roads.

The severe cyclonic storm Nisarga moved towards northeastwards and crossed Maharashtra coast close to the south of Alibagh between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM as a 'Severe Cyclonic Storm' with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph.

The rear part of the wall cloud region is still over the sea and the landfall process will be completed in one hour. Its current intensity near the centre is 90-100 kmph to 110kmph. It will move northeastwards and weaken into a cyclonic storm during next 6 hrs: IMD

About 43 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are deployed in the two states; of which 21 are in Maharashtra. Nearly 1 lakh people have been evacuated from the cyclone zones: SN Pradhan, NDRF Director General

Landfall process has started in coastal area of Maharashtra (near Alibaug), it has hit Raigadh district. It will continue for next three hours. It will cross Mumbai, Thane and then proceed to north Maharshtra & South Gujarat.

Several animals of Mumbai's Ranibagh zoo have been shifted to safe places due to Cyclone Nisarga. Tigers, wolves and other animals have been put in cages to avoid any deaths during the calamity.

Cyclone Nisarga landfall process starts,  no traffic movement on Bandara-Worli sealink as Mumbai put on high alert. 

Many trees uprooted in the Raigad district due to strong winds due to Cyclone Nisarga. The cyclone is expected to make landfall in an hour in the state and the process will be completed during the next 3 hours, as per IMD.

As many as 15 NDRF and 6 SDRF teams have been deployed in Gujarat. More than 50 thousand people were relocated due to Cyclone Nisarga. More than 250 ambulances including 170 medical teams on standby to deal with the condition.

Current intensity near cyclonic center 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph. Wind-speed (in kmph at 0930 hours ist of 03.06.2020): Ratnagiri-59, Harnai-28, Colaba-09, Santacruz-11 and Dahanu-02 kmph. Will hit near Alibaug with a maximum sustained wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph.

Cyclone Nisarga has moved about 50 kms southwards, is likely hit Alibaug coast in Maharashtra between 1 pm to 4 pm.  

IMD issues notification about damage expected from Cyclone Nisarga:  

* Major damage to thatched houses/ huts. Roof tops may blow off. Unattached metal sheets may fly. 
* Damage to power and communication lines. Major damage to Kutcha and some damage to Pucca roads. Flooding of escape routes. i. Breaking of tree branches, uprooting of large avenue trees. Damage to banana and papaya trees. Large dead limbs blown from trees. 'fr. Major damage to coastal crops. 
* Damage to embankments/ salt pans. (vii) Fishermen Warning & Action Suggested: 'fr. Total suspension of fishing operations. 
* Mobilise evacuation from low lying areas. 
* Judicious regulation of rail and road traffic. 
* People in affected areas to remain indoors. Movement in motor boats and small ships unsafe. 

People are facing economic hardship of unimaginable proportions because of coronavirus pandemic. I appeal to the Centre to transfer Rs 10,000 each as one-time aid to migrant labourers including people in unorganized sector. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has arranged about 35 schools as temporary shelters for citizens. (ANI)

IMD issues notification on damage expected and action suggested for interior districts of Maharashtra (Pune, Ahmadnagar, Nashik, Aurangabad and adjoining Beed).

National Disaster Response Force team along with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, evacuates local residents from near Versova seashore to safer places on Wednesday in view of Cyclone Nisarga.

Mumbai's international airport will only operate 19 flights, including 11 departures and eight arrivals, on Wednesday (June 3) due to uncertain weather conditions caused by cyclone Nisarga, which is expected to make its landfall in Maharashtra Wednesday afternoon. Read more here

Wind speed of 80 to 90 kmph is expected over Maharashtra's Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar districts while wind speed of about 60-80 kmph is expected over Gujarat's Navsari & Valsad. By midnight it will weaken and by tomorrow morning it will reduce to a depression: IMD

Cyclone Nisarga will cross Maharashtra coast between Harihareshwar and Daman,very close to Alibag between 1 pm to 4 pm on Wednesday. While crossing the coast it will have strong winds of 100-120 kmph over Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts of Maharashtra: IMD DGM Mrutyunjay Mohapatra

As many as 390 people residing in Alibaug and nearby coastal areas have been evacuated and put up at a makeshift shelter home. Arrangements of food and water has been made, they will be a shifted back to their homes once the effect of the cyclone passes.   

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places in Goa for Wednesday. It has already received 127 mm of rains, as of 7.30 am Wednesday morning.

Mumbai experienced high tide of 4.26 m (13.98ft) at 10:14am on Wednesday. When the sea tide reaches over 4.5 meters it can cause waterlogging issues for low laying areas in Mumbai city.

Wind speed picks up along the coast, Ratnagiri recorded speeds upto 55 kmph at 08:30 am which is likely to increase to 100-110 kmph gusting upto 120 kmph in the afternoon during landfall: IMD

60-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph along & off Valsad & Navsari districts of Gujarat from noon of June 3.

As of 08:30 am on June 3, 'Severe Cyclone' Nisarga lay centred over eastcentral Arabian Sea near lat. 17.6°n and long. 72.3°e :
* 130 km south-southwest of Alibagh.
* 175 km south-southwest of Mumbai.
* 400 km south-southwest of Surat (Gujarat).

Cyclone Nisarga has intensified further, eye diameter has decreased to about 65 km in the past hour. Wind speed has increased from 85-95 kmph to 90-100 kmph, gusting to 110 mph: Government of India (ANI)

#CycloneNisarga approaching north Maharashtra coast with a speed of 13 kmph during past 6 hours. It is 155 km south-southwest of Alibag and 200 km south-southwest of Mumbai: India Meteorological Department (IMD)

Mumbai Police tweets: Section 144 (CrPC) has been promulgated in the city from 00:00 hours, June 3rd till 12:00 hours, June 4th. Refrain from venturing out to coast-beaches, promenade, parks and other similar places along the coastline.

In the coming few hours, Mumbai may receive upto 100 mm of rain accompanied with strong winds. The Cyclone Nisarg is likely to hit Alibag area of Raigad around 1 pm.

Cyclone Nisarga is approaching north Maharashtra coast with a speed of 11 kmph. It was about 200 km south-southwest of Alibag and 250 km south-southwest of Mumbai at 0230 hours IST Wednesday (June 3): India Meteorological Department

In the wake of Cyclone Nisarga, a total of 19 flights which include 11 departures & 8 arrivals will be operating on June 3 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. The flights will be operated by AirAsia India, Air India, IndiGo, GoAir & SpiceJet.

Operations at the Mumbai airport, which has been handling 50 domestic flights daily since May 25, are likely to be significantly affected on Wednesday due to the cyclone.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday issued a circular to airlines and pilots, reiterating its guidelines on adverse weather operations as Cyclone Nisarga approaches the coastal areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday held a meeting with senior officials and took stock of the preparedness of the administration.
