Include Urdu as regional language in NEET 2018-19 session: Supreme Court to Centre
In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Centre to include Urdu as a language for 2018-19 session of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam.

Representational image New Delhi: In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Centre to include Urdu as a language for 2018-19 session of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam.
A bench comprising justices Dipak Misra, A M Khanwilkar and MM Shantanagoudar told the petitioner, who has sought a direction for making Urdu as a medium for NEET 2017 scheduled on May 7, that it would not be possible for the government to include Urdu this year.
As per the official notification by the Central Broad of Secondary Education (CBSE), the NEET will be held in 10 languages -- Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya and Kannada.
March 1 was the last date for the NEET online application and the exams will be conducted on May 7.
