Delhi HC Directs X, Google To Take Down Posts Questioning Anjali Birla's UPSC Selection

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed social media platform X and search engine giant Google to remove defamatory social media posts against IRPS officer and LS Speaker Om Birla’s daughter Anjali. Earlier today, IRPS officer Anjali Birla filed a defamation lawsuit in the Delhi High Court. She is demanding the deletion of social media posts that wrongfully claim she succeeded in the UPSC exams on her first try because of her father's influence.

Numerous civil servants are facing scrutiny following the case of trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, who allegedly exploited the Other Backward Class quota and disability benefits to secure a position in the Indian Administrative Service. Khedkar, part of the 2023 batch, is currently undergoing probation and is stationed in her home state of Maharashtra.

The 34-year-old officer has recently become the center of controversy due to claims that she made specific demands for separate accommodation from the Pune District Collector before her appointment as Assistant Collector in Pune.

Reports also suggest that she utilized a private Audi vehicle with a unique registration number. With increasing inquiries regarding her recruitment, the central government has commenced an investigation into these allegations.

This issue has also sparked significant attention on social media, leading to the scrutiny of former IAS officer Abhishek Singh's selection from the 2011 batch. The widespread sharing of these developments has elicited a variety of responses from netizens.
