Are fat burning supplements safe? This mother dies after using diet pills, anti-cellulite cream

New Delhi: The pills and supplements that claim to support the fat burning process and help you maintain a healthy weight can be detrimental to your body.

A 50-year-old mother, who bought fat burning supplements and ant-cellulite cream from Facebook seller Kay Mavrides for £30, has reportedly died after using the products.

Linda Baranowski of Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, is said to have collapsed with stomach pains weeks after taking T5 fat burning pills and rubbing Yili Balo cream on her legs.

As per reports, the mother-of-four used the supplements as she was 'paranoid' about turning 50.

Her daughter Michaela, 29, told the Sun that her mother's skin turned purple and started to peel off due to the alleged side-effects of the supplements.

It is believed that Mrs Baranowski died as a result of an inflammatory reaction to the dietary supplements she was using. She died after five weeks on a life-support machine.

“The waters are very murky surrounding these things, so of course I think they need regulating,” Baranowski's 50-year-old husband Mark was quoted as saying.

Reportedly police had said that seller Mavrides admitted to two other buyers complaining about the gel as it made them feel hot.
