Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt visited the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai after his release from Pune’s Yerwada Jail after being granted remission in his five-year jail term. The actor probably wanted to start the new inning of his life with the divine’s blessings.

The actor reached Mumbai in a charted aircraft along with his family. He will soon visit his mother Nargis’ grave and then head home.

The Bollywood star, who received a warm welcome from close friends, was lodged in the Yerwada jail since May 2013. He was held guilty of possessing an illegal weapon and was convicted by the Supreme Court under the Arms Act.

He was arrested on April 19, 1993, for possessing and destroying an AK- 56 rifle which was a part of the cache of arms and explosives that landed in India prior to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.  He had spent about 18-months in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail as an under-trial.
