With less than 24 hours to adopt Lodha Committee recommendations, BCCI list reforms undertaken under Anurag Thakur

New Delhi: The writing is on the wall. The Board of Control for Control in India (BCCI) just can't ignore what the Supreme Court has tasked it to do. And the Indian board has less than 24 hours to adopt the Lodha Committee recommendations.

During Thursday’s Supreme Court hearing on the absolute implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations, Chief Justice (CJI) TS Thakur asked whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office bearers were professionally qualified?

And obviously, the first target on the firing line was the BCCI president Anurag Thakur. Soon, it became clear, with the Chief Justice asking, “Who is the president of the BCCI? What is he? Is he a politician? Did he play cricket?”

Then, BCCI's Kapil Sibal replied, saying that Thakur had played cricket at the Ranji-trophy level, which only enraged the CJI. (ALSO READ: SC seeks unconditional undertaking by BCCI to abide by Lodha reforms)

Certainly not bemused with the claim, the CJI said, “Even I am the captain of the Supreme Court cricket team.”

But after the hearing, the Indian board took to Twitter to share what Thakur has done for the sport. In a series of tweets, the BCCI listed a list of reforms undertaken under Thakur.

The BCCI started with the successful organizing of the ICC World T20 in India earlier this year, then the many steps undertaken to promote cricket in the country including the North East.

Earlier today, the apex court came down heavily on the BCCI and given 24 hours time to adopt the recommendations made by the Lodha Committee.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India TS Thakur gave an ultimatum to the BCCI to give an undertaking by October 7 to “unconditionally” comply with the reforms of the Committee.
