Vikramaditya slams Anurag Thakur over 'inconsistent' cricket diplomacy

Shimla: Himachal Youth Congress President Vikramaditya on Saturday lashed out at BCCI President Anurag Thakur for adopting "double standards" on playing cricket matches with Pakistan.

In the backdrop of the Uri terror attack, Thakur had yesterday ruled out the possibility of reviving bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan in near future.

"We had opposed the T-20 match between India and Pakistan at Dharamsala after the terrorist attack at Pathankot Army base but Anurag Thakur was in favour of the match and played politics but now he is opposing bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan," said Singh.

"During that time, a terrorist attack was carried out at Army camp in Pathakot but Anurag was more concerned about the India-Pak cricket match rather than the country. Now another major terrorist attack took place at Uri and Anurag is now talking against playing cricket match with Pakistan," he said.

Singh said that Anurag had "irrationally" and "falsely accused" the state government of cancelling the T-20 India-Pak cricket match at Dharmsala "due to political motive".

"The office bearers of HPCA and other BJP leaders conveniently forgot that two brave soldiers of the Kangra district were killed in the?Pathankot attack as the prime concern of Anurag at that time was to make money by organising the match at Dharamsala," he alleged.
