IPL 2017: AB de Villiers reaches Bangalore, says he is looking forward to start of tenth edition

New Delhi: In what would be a huge boost for the injury-marred Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise, star batsman AB de Villiers has reached Bangalore and is looking forward to his participation in the tenth edition of the tournament.

There were reports of the South African missing out on the tournament after he was ruled out of the final match for his domestic side Titans in the Momentum Cup, due to a back injury.

But AB took to Twitter on Monday to inform that he had reached Bangalore and was looking forward to the start of the tournament.

"Great to be back in Bangalore. Looking forward to the start of the 2017 IPL, come on @RCBTweets! #PlayBold," he tweeted.

RCB are currently marred by injuries to some of their key batsmen.

While Lokesh Rahul has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, skipper Virat Kohli, who sustained a shoulder injury during the Ranchi Test of the recently concluded four-match series against Australia, is likely to miss out on the first few matches for his team.

RCB coach Daniel Vettori had confirmed at a press conference that de Villiers will lead the side in Kohli's absence.

De Villiers has played 120 matches so far in his IPL career and has scored 3257 runs at an average of 39.24 with 21 half centuries and 3 centuries to his name.
