ENGLAND INNINGS

Over 92 | Score 258/7 | (Woakes 36; Rashid 5)

Brilliant stuff from the 18-year-old Mehedi Hasan Miraz. Got his fifth scalp, in the form of Johnny Bairstow. BOWLED.

WICKET: Johnny Bairstow b Mehedi Hasan Miraz 52 (126b)

That happened off the last ball of the 82nd over, and Miraz thus became the youngest Bangladeshi to take a five-for on debut, and seventh overall.

England fought hard for the remaining overs, not to lose further wicket, and on that front, Chris Woakes had done well.

Over 80 | Score 225/6 | (Stokes 51; Woakes 14)

Another 25 runs for England in the last 10 overs, with  Jonny Bairstow reaching his fifty too. And Bangladesh are still using the old ball. 10 overs' play left in the day.

Over 70 | Score 200/6 | (Bairstow 39; Woakes 1)

In the intervening period between Tea, England seemed to have countered Bangladeshi spin attack, but the wicket of Moeen Ali allowed the home side to take back the initiative.

WICKET: Moeen Ali c Mushfiqur Rahim b Mehedi Hasan Miraz 68 (170b)

Ali got out off the last ball of the 68th over. In the process, debutant Mehedi Hasan Miraz also got his fourth wicket of the day, even as England reached 200.

Over 55 | Score 154/5 | (Ali 50; Bairstow 18)

In the last ten overs, England have put together 30 more runs with Moeen Ali reaching his fifty, and with Jonny Bairstow contributing 18 crucial runs.

Over 45 | Score 124/5 | (Ali 25; Bairstow 13)

Shakib Al Hasan got his second scalp of the math, getting rid of Ben Stokes. BOWLED.

WICKET: Ben Stokes b Shakib Al Hasan 18 (34b)

That happened off the fourth ball of the 41st over. And England are in dire straights in Dhaka.

Over 30 | Score 84/4 | (Ali 17*, Stokes 1*)

Hasan continued to make his debut memorable as he scalped the big fish – Joe Root! Root was playing for the turn but it took a thin edge off his bat and was grabbed by Sabbir Rahman. The wicket also ended the 62-run stand for the fourth wicket. Ben Stokes is the new man in and England need this pair to stitch another partnership.

JE Root c Sabbir Rahman b Mehedi Hasan Miraz 40 (49b)

Over 15 | Score 34/3 | (Root 13*, Ali 1*)

Hasan, the debutant picked his second wicket of the match when he trapped Ballance in front of the wicket. The field umpire wasn't convinced, after which Mushfiqur went for the review and it paid off. The skipper couldn't have asked for a better start from his bowlers. Joe Root is at the crease and the onus is once again on him to bail his team out of this precarious situation. Moeen Ali is another batsman at the crease. England desperately need a partnership here.

GS Ballance lbw b Mehedi Hasan Miraz 1 (7b)

Over 11 | Score 20/2 | (Root 0*, Ballance 1*)

Bangladesh got two crucial breakthroughs as both openers – Ben Duckett and Alastair Cook – were dismissed in consecutive overs. Hasan, who was bowling with a disciplined line and length, was rewarded in his fifth over when he bowled Duckett. But the hosts got the big fish when Shakib Al Hasan bowled Cook in his first over of the innings. The left-hander was surprised by the sharp turn as he tried to play a sweep shot but was bowled. This is a superb start for Bangladesh.

AN Cook b Shakib Al Hasan 4 (26b)

BM Duckett b Mehedi Hasan Miraz 14 (35b)

Over 5 | Score 9/0 | (Cook 2*, Duckett 7*)

Slow start by the visitors so far. Shafiul Islam and Mehedi Hasan started the proceedings for Bangladesh and they have kept things tight so far.
