Audience is mature for intimate scenes, says TV producer

Mumbai: Television audience has matured enough to watch intimate scenes, TV producer Yash Patnaik said here Sunday.
"At times the story needs this momentum, and the expression of love provides that. The audience has matured a lot. But there has to be a need for it. Sometimes it is just shown for publicity`s sake, which is not right," he told IANS.
Currently producing "Veera Ek Veer Ki Ardaas" and "Junoon-Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq", Patnaik`s Beyond Dreams Entertainment has produced many shows like "Rang Badalti Odhani". With realistic cinema entering the big screen with films like "Gangs of Wasseypur" and "Shanghai", Patanik believes that such a trend will translate into television as well. "Realistic cinema has started on television as well. "Junoon" is realistic. There is large section of audience who will connect to it. In "Veera..." also, we have been realistic. We have not shown Yash Chopra`s type of Punjab," he said. "Before `Kyunki... (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi)` started people thought 10-10.30 p.m. was late. Before `Kaahin Kissii Roz` people thought 11:30 p.m. was late. Before `Saathiya... (Saath Nibhana Saathiya)`, people used to think 7 p.m. was early. It`s the content which is more important, more than the time slot," he said. Talking about television shows, he said there is no particular formula for a successful show. "Content must have a strong emotional connection. The content must be fresh. It`s not just about writing, but execution and casting as well," he said. The producer said he had two more shows in the pipeline. "We have two very refreshing ideas and I think they will be liked by the audience. The ideas have not been done before yet and are within the parameters of popular storytelling," he said. IANS
