Mumbai: Madhuri Dixit, who has returned to India for good from the US is actually facing the heat from her very own people for letting them down miserably.
The Marathi mulgi has irked politicians of Maharashtra by reportedly quoting an exorbitant price to endorse the state’s tourism. Madhuri subsequently declined the offer as she did not get the desired fee.
Nitesh Rane, Swabhimaan Sanghatana chief and son of Industries Minister Narayan Rane took to twitter to express his angst against the Bollywood diva and wrote, “Madhuri Dixit charging high for being the brand ambassador of Maharashtra is such a disgrace! When it comes to your own soil...one should be selfless! Shame!”
The 40 something lady has also upset another Minister for not being a part of the state government film award function.
Indirectly referring to the actress, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had said, “This is a state honour, a token of the love of 11 crore citizens. Some stars were free to receive other awards two days ago, but are tied for time to receive a government honour.”
What has indeed irked Maharashtra politicos is that Madhuri being a Maharashtrian declined the offer to endorse the state tourism while Aamir Khan is promoting Union Tourism ministry’s Incredible India campaign for free!
