New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s grand Dawat-e-Walima was nothing less than a royal affair. Hosted by the groom’s mother, Sharmila Tagore, the reception had the who’s who of the town in attendance.
Now we all know that from Rahul Gandhi to Arun Jaitley to Ajay Jadeja to Nandita Das, all made an appearance at this grand reception. The guests were apparently welcomed at the entrance with ‘Farsi Adaab’ (welcome) by Saif`s cousins.
The bride and the groom arrived sharp at 7:30 pm and soon after, guests started flowing in. The entire place was done up in white. Speaking to a tabloid, a source revealed, "The entire decor of the event was in white. So from the white mogra flowers to the chandeliers and candles, everything was bathed in white."
While the guests were mesmerized by the pristine décor, they also couldn’t stop gushing over the live band that performed at the do.
Unlike the Mumbai reception, where the Bollywood fraternity turned up in full force, the representation of film industry in Delhi was limited to a few people. Imtiaz Ali, Madhur Bhandarkar and Nandita Das were the only film personalities there. Kareena’s cousin, Ridhima Sahni Kapoor (daughter of Rishi and Neetu) who had skipped Mumbai functions, was seen at this party.
"Rishi, Neetu and Bebo`s cousin Ranbir Kapoor skipped the event. The party however saw a lot of politicians rubbing shoulders with each other. Rahul Gandhi was at the do throughout the evening,” added the source.
So what were the guests served at this royal party? The menu was said to be elaborate with nahaari, khada masala gosht, kebabs as a part of the expansive spread. A family member said, "There were more than 50 different dishes!"
The groom’s sisters, Soha and Saba, were spotted wearing royal Farsi ghararas that once belonged to their grandmother. Guests from Pakistan, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Bhopal were also a part of the ceremony.
