Chennai: He is making his debut as a director with Tamil action-drama ‘Jilla’ and says the biggest challenge for him is to work with two superstars - Vijay and Mohanlal.
"To work with two superstars in one film will certainly be very challenging. I need to be highly responsible in my work or else I will be answerable to millions of fans of the actors. I also have to be extremely careful about how I portray them on the screen," Nesan told reporters.
Mohanlal will play Vijay`s mentor in the film.
"Lal sir will essay a powerful role of Vijay`s mentor in the film. Scenes between them will be highly emotional and will be the highlight of the the story", said the first time director.
Why Mohanlal for the film?
"We wanted to try a peculiar combination. I`ve seen several films of Lal sir over the years and when I approached him, he was interested too. Vijay was also interested to work with him so everything else fell in place," said Nesan.
The film will go on the floors in the second week of May.
"We will start filming from May. We will predominantly shoot in places such as Madurai, Chennai, and some locations in Andhra Pradesh, while the songs will be shot abroad. If everything goes well, then we will most likely release the film during Pongal next year," he said.
Vijay played an urban hero in his last two flicks – ‘Nanban’ and ‘Thuppakki’ -- as he will also in upcoming film ‘Thalaivaa’.
However, in ‘Jilla’, he will play a rural character based in Madurai.
"I was born near Madurai and, therefore, wanted to explore the place through the film. Moreover, I don`t think Vijay sir has played a role, which is based in Madurai. He will also mouth few dialogues in the local dialect to add a personal touch to his role," said Nesan.
Kajal Aggarwal is paired opposite Vijay in the film. Actress Poornima Bhagyaraj is making a comeback to the silver screen after 28 years with the movie.
Mahat Raghavendra and Parota Suri are also part of the cast.
The team is yet to choose the antagonist for the film, which will be produced by R.B. Chowdhary of Mega Super Good Films.
Imman has been roped in to compose music, while art direction will be handled by Rajeevan.
