London: ‘Star Trek’ legend Walter Koenig has finally been awarded with a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 75-year-old actor, who played Russian Ensign Pavel Chekov, could not hide his joy as he posed with fellow series originals and his family at the unveiling ceremony on Monday.
“This is something that you hope and wish for, dream about, but something you never expect to really happen,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying. “It’s a joyous occasion and I am deeply honoured,” he said. It is eight years since the last member of the cast was recognized, with James Doohan, who played Scottish engineer Montogomery Scott, give a spot for his contribution to television, the report said. According to it, three of his crew mates turned out to appear with their old friend, with Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols and George Takai serving as his Starfleet guard of honour. Koenig celebrated with his wife Judy Levitt and daughter Danielle, who both gave him congratulatory kisses. ANI
