British niche motorcycle maker Triumph will launch the all-new Thruxton R in India on Friday (June 3).

Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Thruxton R, powered by a 1,200cc engine, is one of the three motorcycles in the company's new Bonneville family of bikes available in India.

In October 2015, Triumph Motorcycles unveiled its 2016 range of “modern classic” motorcycles, including the Street Twin, Bonneville T120, Bonneville T120 Black, new Thruxton, and the Thruxton R.

The company already launched the first two in the Indian market after introducing them at the 2016 Auto Expo, along with the Thruxton R which has been scheduled for launch on June 3, 2016. The starting price of the bike is expected to be kept between Rs 10 - Rs 11 lakh.

The cafe racer-styled 2016 Triumph Thruxton R got a huge response on its Indian premiere at the country's biggest automobile event. The bike is all-new in terms of both design and performance. The bike sits on a redesigned platform, used in the entire new range of Triumph modern classic bikes. However, it has been tweaked a bit to go well with the performance of the new 1200cc higher-powered ‘Thruxton spec’ engine.

With immediate, exciting power delivery and a peak torque figure of 112Nm at 4950rpm, the new liquid-cooled, 8-valve, parallel-twin engine generates 62 per cent higher torque than the previous generation Thruxton.

The power output of the motor has also been increased by 41 per cent and the new motor churns out 97PS at 6,750rpm. It also gets a new set of megaphone exhausts to deliver the thrilling sound of a British racing twin. The fuel efficiency has also been enhanced by 11 percent in combination with an increased service interval of 16,000km.

The styling of the new model looks more oriented towards its café-racer roots, which reflects in its sculpted fuel tank and other bodywork. The 2016 Triumph Thruxton R comes with some of the best-in-class cycle parts and equipment, making it an ultimate factory cafe racer. The fully-specced machine comes shod with Showa upside-down forks up front, a fully-adjustable Ohlins rear shock set, and Brembo Monobloc radially-mounted callipers on the dual front and single rear discs.

For absolute tractability and comfort, the new Thruxton R comes equipped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres and gets three ride modes - road, rain and sports. Other riding assistance technologies in the bike include traction control, slip-assist clutch, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).

Besides the standard features, the bike gets over 160 stylish accessories option and two optional 'Inspiration' kits, including a full-on Track Racer kit and the Ultimate Cafe Racer kit.

Triumph Motorcycles India sells 15 global models in the country and has already sold close to 3,000 units in over two years of operations in India.

It has 12 dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi.
