Honda WR-V to feature 2017 City's 7.0-inch infotainment unit
With this mid-life update, the Japanese automaker has introduced a new infotainment system in the 2017 City, christened the Digipad.
Honda has launched the facelifted City in the Indian market on February 14. And with this mid-life update, the Japanese automaker has introduced a new infotainment system in the 2017 City, christened the Digipad. This new 7.0-inch unit replaces Honda’s previous aftermarket-looking 6.2-inch system, which was there in the previous model as well as in the Honda Jazz. Now, the upcoming Honda’s debutant sub-4m SUV, the WR-V, will also feature the new Digipad infotainment system.
2017 Honda City Facelift Launched At Rs 8.50 Lakh
What does it offer?
-Comes with a 7.0-inch capacitive touch-based screen; the previous 6.2-inch unit had a resistive touchscreen
-Satellite-linked built in navigation with microSD card-based maps and live traffic updates
-Voice recognition via unit or steering-mounted buttons
-Comes with 1.5 gigabytes of internal storage and offers connectivity options such as Bluetooth phone integration, 2 USB-in slots, 2 microSD card slots and 1 HDMI-in slot
-MirrorLink smartphone integration with select app usage through the car’s infotainment display
-Built-in WiFi receiver for internet browsing, emails and live traffic updates
Though this new 7.0-inch capacitive touch-based unit is vastly improved over Honda’s previous 6.2-inch resistive touch-based unit, it still lacks Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. To put it into perspective, even less expensive cars nowadays such as the Ignis, Grand i10 or even the upcoming Chevrolet Beat, are equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Honda should’ve not missed this opportunity with the new Digipad. Besides this, it does have cool features such as internet connectivity and emails and live traffic updates via its built-in WiFi support.
